Geospatial Visualization Advances to the Next Level

The Virtual City website is a showcase of new web-based mapping technology.  As Google Maps, Yahoo Maps, and Microsoft Virtual Earth have become the standard for consumer mapping on the Internet, organizations are struggling to provide a similar user experience for visualization of their organization's specific geospatial data.

MapDotNet Server's Virtual Earth* Tile Server provides the necessary link between an organization's expensive GIS (geographic information systems) resources and the new standard in consumer mapping.

Visitors to the website can view parcel, zone, and district boundaries in combination with Virtual Earth's street maps, aerial photography, bird's eye oblique photography, and even in Virtual Earth's 3D mode.  While in 3D mode, visitors can navigate in three dimensions through a Virtual City that is accurate in relationship to the real thing.

In 3D mode, Internet users can fly through the city, hover over buildings to get property and zoning information, and swivel around buildings and landscapes.

Visitors can plug in an XBOX controller and navigate this 3D virtual city like they would move through a video game.

Even citizens that have lived in your area for many years can rapidly learn more about the geography of the city when they visit your Virtual City website.
