Point markers in MapDotNet UX Studio are in XAML format. In order to add your own point symbols to Studio, design XAML graphics in a program like Expression Design (or design them in Adobe Illustrator, then convert them to XAML). In Studio, click View, select Symbol Library, then select User Defined. Click the New Symbol button and provide the file path for the new symbol and click Save Symbol.
Alternately, create a custom symbol based on one of the symbols included with MapDotNet UX Studio. In order to change the background color of the windmill symbol, for example, click View, select Symbol Library, then select Energy. Select the windmill symbol.
Click the Copy to Clipboard button. Click View, select Symbol Library, then select User Defined. Click the New Symbol button and select paste in the XAML box.
Edit the XAML and click the Refresh Preview button.
Once the XAML is edited, provide a Name, Tags (optional) and a File Name, then click the Save Symbol button.
Note that if you create your own XAML from scratch, the actual symbol must be based on geometry objects such as Path, Ellipse, Rectangle, etc. Only such vector graphics are supported, Image objects are not supported.
